To our valued and awesome Garage Cyclers,
Firstly, we want to say a big thank you to our Garage Cyclers who have continued to support us throughout the global pandemic despite ongoing changes to location and safety protocols.
Not only has Covid-19 had a significant impact on our daily lives, but also to so many of our local businesses. We have always abided by all health and safety protocols mandated by our province and continue to update them to ensure our riders and community are safe, happy and healthy.
Effective September 13, people aged 12+ will need to show proof of vaccination to get into certain events and businesses in BC including our Garage Cycle classes. People can show proof of vaccination with one of the types of official immunization records: a BC immunization record (accepted only until September 26), the BC Vaccine Card saved to your phone or printed, or for those outside of BC must show their provincial immunization record. Please note, starting September 13, each rider must have at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and by October 24, each rider must be fully vaccinated.
Masks need to be worn when entering into any indoor space but masks can be removed once you are on your bike and clipped in. It is with a heavy heart that we do realize that some of you may not be able to spin with us and recognize how important exercise has been for you physically, mentally and spiritually. However, please know that this isn’t forever and we look forward to having you back when the time is right.
We are a tight knit community and have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic together. As outlined in BC's Restart Plan, we have entered phase 2 and under enhanced health and safety protocols will be allowed to re-open along with a number of other businesses and service sectors. It is critically important to us that prior to re-launching classes, we ensure our Garage Cyclers enter our business feeling safe and stress free while enjoying a healthy and sweaty workout on our bikes. As Garage Cycle members, you know that we take cleaning and safety seriously and our plan to keep us healthy as we re-open the studio is detailed below.
CLEANING & SANITIZING:
Studio
Bikes including the entire studio, floors, walls and lockers will be wiped down with soap and water and then followed by a wipe down with disinfectant before and after each class. Disinfectant wipes will be provided in the studio for members to wipe down their bike before class if they choose.
Shoes
Our spin shoes will be sprayed with aerosol disinfectant and completely dried before use.
Entrance and Hallway
All door knobs, light switches, and walls in high traffic areas will be wiped down with disinfectant.
Office
All high touch surface areas in the office will be thoroughly disinfected.
Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer will be made available at the front entrance and we ask that all members use hand sanitizer before entering the studio.
DISTANCING IN THE STUDIO:
Limited Indoor Cycling Bikes
We will only be running four bikes and one spin instructor bike for each class to ensure the proper distance (6 ft) between cycler’s and instructor in the studio.
Entrance Access
Garage Cycle members are asked to enter through the front door and exit through the garage door after class has finished to ensure social distancing. We encourage that you enter, remove your shoes, take your belongings and head straight into the studio as we will be restricting entrance use.
Payment On Premises
For members that are wanting to purchase punch passes or drop-ins, the payment terminal will be available for debit or credit card. We no longer will be accepting cash payments.
Cycling Shoes
For those members booked into class that wish to use our cycling shoes, to eliminate crowding at the entrance, we will be asking for your shoe size and putting them at your designated indoor cycling bike. For members that would like to bring their own cycling shoes or wear running shoes, we ask that shoes are clean and put on in the studio.
AMENITIES:
We all love those cold clothes after a sweaty spin session, unfortunately for now we are going to have to put our towel service and cold clothes on hold. We ask that members bring their own towels from home. There will be no shared products or hand towels in the bathroom, single use paper towels will be available. We will not be able to fill any water bottles, so you’ll need to bring your own filled water bottle. Lockers will be moved from the front entrance into the studio.
HEALTH WATCH:
Us Instructors
Both Shaye and I will be self-monitoring and will not teach classes if we experience any COVID-19 Symptoms for a period of 14 days. To promote social distancing we will be keeping our distance of 6 ft or more from all members that arrive and will wait until all members are in the studio before we will enter. For new members we will not be able to do close contact set-up of their bike but will instruct from a distance and new cyclers will be sent information on bike set-up ahead of time.
Garage Cyclers
We strongly discourage any members from booking a class if they are feeling unwell, if they have travelled within the last 14 days, are living with anyone who is self isolating, quarantined or sick. If you are feeling any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue or loss of appetite, please do not book a class.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We have changed but will be strictly enforcing our new cancellation policy as spaces will be limited. You must now cancel a minimum of 8 hours before class starts to better support our limited class capacity. If you do not cancel before 8 hours you will be charged for your space.
We hope that this will encourage our members to cancel class during the appropriate time to ensure another Garage Cycle member can take their spot.
FINALLY
Watch for future emails that will give details on what our new schedule looks like and when you can start booking classes.
We know that this is a lot of change but TOGETHER I know we can make this work. Both Shaye and I are truly excited to welcome our Garage Cycle members back and look forward to working out with you once again, WE GOT THIS!!
